PITINGO BIOGRAPHY

His name is Antonio Álvarez Vélez. He was born in Ayamonte, Huelva, on the 6th of November, 1980, but he lived in MadridHe is the son of a gypsy mother and a payo father. His father was a Civil guard. He learned flamenco singing in his family because he belongs to a family with a great flamenco tradition: the 'Valencia' and the 'Carpio' families. He worked in Barajas airport before becoming a singer.
He made his first album in 2006. The album is a collaboration between Pitingo and Habichuela family of musicians, specilly Juan Habichuela, a celebrated guitarist from Granada. In Pitingo's second album, Soulería (2008), he collaborated once again with Habichuela family and another famous guitarist, Juan Carmona. He received the 2008 Ondas Award.
